Description
signed Steuben Lidded Bowl with Ram's Head Finial Irene Benton design c. 1943 Consider this gorgeous signed Steuben Ram's Head Lidded Bowl a simply stunning piece for anyone who deserves ROYAL treatment, fill with chocolate truffles for a perfect birthday or anniversary treat!! Perhaps you remember your grandmother serving you treats from a lidded bowl like this! This classic Steuben design icon is in superb condition with a mirror finish all around and having no chips, no cracks, no scuffs and no scratches on the base bottom. A rare find in this condition, it appears unused. This is a long retired design and is seldom found with it's top intact. The Ram's Head finial shows amazing workmanship--with applied eyes, curved horns and a beautiful ruffle of glass around the shapely neck. Sadly, these detailed designs have been phased out by Steuben for less labor intensive pieces. This bowl is perfect for candies, potpourri, guest soaps etc. and measures 6" tall by approx. 6" at it's widest, with the clarity and heft that Steuben is noted for. The winning bidder will be thrilled with this work of glass art. I have set a very fair starting bid for an outstanding Steuben work that is in show room condition with no hidden reserve. (When it was last available it was priced about the same as the largest Steuben Eagle which retails for $1100 before taxes at Steuben.com) Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It is the worlds foremost artisan glass house. Steuben glass continues to be hand made by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY. Because it is hand made, each piece is unique. Steuben glass is frequently the United States’ gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben markets no “seconds”. Items that do not meet their exacting production standards are destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben is a luxury brand and they have no "sales". Please e-mail me if you have any questions and thank you your interest in this beautiful lidded bowl. I have a reputation for selling art glass of the highest quality, 99% of my feedback is based on sales of Steuben Glass. Please read the feedback from my satisfied buyers and bid with confidence. I pay Ebay extra so that you can enlarge the photos. Please do so and take a closer look. Also, please check out my other Steuben items on Ebay. This item will be double boxed/packed with care and shipped insured priority mail. Thank you again for your interest in this terrific Steuben Bowl with Ram's Head finial (which is Steuben item #7936, and appears on page 343 of the MJ Madigan Steuben reference book 2003 edition.) Please know that strive to locate items that represent Steuben's perfection. I specialize in this art glass and am familiar with the designs, where and how each piece is correctly signed and each item's proper dimensions. Thank you for considering this Steuben classic.
