Description
vintage signed Steuben Air Twist Handled Bell Jeanne Leach design 1949 Tell her she can ring for you anytime!! Consider this signed Steuben Bell with Air Twist Handle the perfect birthday or anniversry gift for your wife or lover or as a special gift for the hostess for that stay at the cottage or condo!! This vintage design, with a mesmerizing spiral twist inside the handle, is in beautiful unused condition. I see no chips, no cracks, no scuffs, NO SCRATCHES and original clapper with no damage and no internal marks from ringing or use. It will come wrapped in its fine Steuben flannel bag with it's vintage Steuben box. A mid century design from a time when many could ring for their household help, you could offer this with a promise that you will try to do more of the "stepping and fetching"! This lovely Steuben Bell is just under 6" tall by approx. 2.0" in diameter at the base and is signed "steuben" in two places--on the bell clapper and also on the flat top of the bell handle. This bell has the beautiful ringing tone that is a hallmark of Steuben. Steuben is noted for their rigorous attention to detail and for the high quality of their glass. They state in their literature that they do not market "seconds". In fact, they note that such pieces are destroyed in house. Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903 and is located in the Fingerlakes Region of New York State. By following strict standards for design and manufacture they have achieved recognition as the worlds premier glassworks. Steuben Glass is frequently the gift of state by US Presidents to foreign dignitaries. Steuben is a luxury brand and they have no "sales". Because of these factors, a well maintained handmade Steuben collectible is likely to increase in value over time. A fair starting bid for a boxed Steuben gem in superb condition with no hidden reserve (at a time when the simplest to form Steuben items are $550 and up). When this was available it was priced 35% higher than the Steuben Olive Bowl so it would likely be in the $800-900 range today. I ship promptly and pack with care double boxing fragiles. My goal is that you are satisfied with this auction, the item and the service you receive. I encourage you to ask questions. The art glass that I offer is handmade and as such may vary slightly from item to item. I inspect the pieces I offer very carefully and make every effort to note attributes and exceptions. The nature of an auction is a specific date and time. Because the items I offer are of limited manufacture and supply and because my inventory may be limited to this example only, as a rule, I do not accept returns. I appreciate your interest in this auction and I hope you will take time to look at the other items I have listed on Ebay this week. The Bell with Air Twist Handle is Steuben #7986, it is a retired design and appears on page 343 of the MJ Madigan Steuben reference book 2003 edition.
