Description
GENUINE WHITEFRIARS PEWTER ONION VASE Whitefriars glassware is currently very popular, due to Geoffrey Baxters' incredible range of colours and designs produced over 30 years.  Classic vases such as the TV, Drunken Bricklayer, Cello and Banjo have all helped to make the entire textured range of the late 1960s and early 1970 to become iconic favourites which look fantastic in todays contemporary homes.  They're also cherished by Interior Designers, are regularly written about in the top Interiors magazines and often appear in the background sets of several daytime TV shows!  These items richly sought after, highly collectable and are the antiques of the future as the factory sadly closed during the recession of the 1980s.    This particular piece was produced in London, England around 1970.  It's a lovely tactile vase known as either an Onion or Puffer Fish vase and comes in the rarer and more subtle gray colour of PEWTER.  All of Baxter's pieces were made of cased glass which means that the coloured glass is embedded within a layer of crystal clear glass which can be clearly seen in several places on this beautiful vase, especially at the base. It displays beautifully and is in a super condition with absolutely NO chips or cracks.  The base carries a minimal amount of wear for an iconic piece of 1970s Art.  This is guaranteed as an authentic Whitefriars item and carries the ground out and polished pontil to the base which is always a reliable indicator - see photo. I have only listed 4 photos (including one with a tangerine Onion that is also available for sale) but any photo angle or combination with other vases can be quickly taken and emailed upon request. POSTAGE METHODS All items are individually parcelled very securely at the end of the auction to facilitate multiple purchases where applicable. We have had no breakages in several years of Ebaying and use quality recycled and new materials to keep costs to a minimum. We only use Royal Mail postal services that meet Paypal’s strict tracking rules. Thus, all UK buyers will receive their goods via Special Delivery whilst International customers must pay for Royal Mail’s AirSure or International Signed For services. All of these services provide a reference number for your parcel with full insurance against loss while parcels are in the UK. I always try to post parcels within 24 hours of a payment clearing and guarantee to have posted your item within 5 working days at the very most! POSTAGE COSTS These are clearly stated later in the listing. Multiple purchases can USUALLY be packaged together and will always be done as effectively as possible - estimates can be given whilst auctions are running if required. PAYMENT UK customers may pay by PAYPAL, personal cheques, bankers drafts or postal orders. INTERNATIONAL customers should pay by PAYPAL only unless they can suggest a suitable alternative before the end of the auction. DISCOUNTS For buyers paying by cheque, bankers draft or postal order I offer a £5.00 discount off my postal prices. Please let me know if you intend to pay using one of these methods and I will adjust your invoice accordingly. RETURNS Full auction price refunded on any item found to be not as described and returned within 7 days of delivery. QUESTIONS Please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions at all or require any additional photos (please advise on specific angles etc). ….AND FINALLY Please check out my other listings for fine collectable British gems which regularly include Whitefriars Glassware, British Proof Coins of the realm, and Royal Doulton and Doulton Lambeth Stoneware.
