Description
This is a signed Maurice Alvarado hand made sculpture. It is signed and dated 1996. This has been in my collection since 1996 and is a great testament to how his work has evolved in 12 years. The sculpture is 7" high x 8" wide x 3 1/2" thick. I will be happy to send additional detailed pictures upon request. Look at his additional work at mauricealvarado.net Maurice Alvarado's glass sculptures are elegant, meticulously crafted and evoke a sense of the spiritual. Although idealized versions of the human torso, his scupltures clearly embody a spiritual presence. Alvarado's goal is "to capture, in clear and multi-colored glass, the essence of the human and angelic figures, inspired by dreams I've had and emotional impressions I have of people and events in my life." He first became interested in glass through his mother's collection of Lalique, and after working in stained glass for ten years, began studying glass sculpture at Tulane University. Quickly mastering the medium, his skill lies in exquisite execution of 12" to 14" tall glass figures, which are hand tooled and can take as long as three hours to create at temptures of 1000 to 2000 degrees.
