Description
This Salem China Christmas Eve Pattern Mini Teapot with Lid (2 cup capacity) was made by Sadler in England and decorated in the USA by Salem China. It is made of cream eathenware and is approximately 5 1/4-inches tall overall (including the lid), 3 3/4-inches tall (without the lid), 3 3/8-inches in diameter at the rim and 4 1/4-inches in diameter at the widest point. The front and back of the teapot has the Christmas Eve Christmas tree and the top of the lid has the Christmas Eve present on the front and the Christmas ball cluster on the back. The lid also has a small hole on the top for steam to escape. There is gold-leaf trim around the top knob of the lid, around the rim of the pot, around the sides of the handle, around the spout and down the sides of the spout. On the bottom of the teapot in excised lettering is 'SADLER' at the top and 'ENGLAND' at the bottom and in the center is a holly wreath with 'Salem' inside of the wreath with 'Christmas Eve' in black lettering under the wreath. Also to the right of the Salem mark is a gold-leaf hand numbered '3969'. This teapot with lid is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips and the Christmas Eve designs are still colorful and unfaded. There are a couple of small scratches on the outside of the teapot not affecting the designs and the bottom of the teapot has slight crazing. The gold-leaf trim is worn slightly on the back of the spout, on a small spot on the knob on the lid and on the back of the rim. There are also a couple of small surface scratches here and there on the gold leaf trim. This teapot is really beautiful!
