Churn Benton, Arkansas 1930s' Description I think this is a very rare find, I may be wrong, but I have only found one similar and it was in the Arkansas History Museum in Little Rock.  This is a wonderful old churn made by the Niloak Pottery Co, In Benton, AR, as stamped on the front.  According to the Niloak book this mark was used in the mid 1930's.  The churn measures 13 3/4" h. the top is 9 1/4" w, the inter lip measures 8" across. the largest part of the middle measures 36" around.  The great old crock does have some flaws, the glaze is flaking off, in some areas, in others the glaze is ruff and looks like circles on the back near the bottom.  I'm not sure what would have caused this, maybe it was kept outside and weathered.  Maybe it's simply age, it is nearly 80 years old!   About 4" from the name there appears to be  a crack., but it does not go through and you cannot feel it with your nails, so it may just be a line. There are 3 chips on the back.  They are not very deep, but you can see them. Also there are a few light stain marks.  I beleive the pictures show everything.  So please look closely and email me with any questions.  If you have a Niloak Churn or crock,  please let me know.
