Description
You're not seeing double, but you're bidding for only one of these gems. This is a very, very rare Imperial "Candlewick" 400/128 Gold deep etched Punch Bowl set. The set consists of the bowl which is about 12 1/4" wide and about 7" high. I believe it probally holds about 6 quarts. The base is about 10 1/4" wide and 2 3/4" high , making the total height 9 3/4". There are 12 cups which are about 3 1/4" wide and 2 7/8" tall. All the pieces are clear glass covered with gold , with a deep etching called "Rose of Sharon". The ladle is clear glass. These punch sets were made in a very limited number , which makes them so very rare today. They were listed in Imperial records dated Jan.1 , 1943. The suggested retail list price in 1943 was $138.90 . That was alot of money in 1943 , another reason why they are so rare. This set is in Excellent condition. It is free of Chips , cracks or repairs. The gold on the outside is strong and intact. There are some relatively minor scratches on the inside of the bowl caused by 50-60 years of use. I am using the "Imperial Glass Encyclopedia" Vol.1 released in 1995 as referrence. The listed book value in 1995 was $5.500.00 for the punch bowl and base , $125.00 each for the cups. I'm sure that the value has increased in 13 years.
