Description
A superb art deco hand painted bone china coffee cup and saucer or demitasse by Paragon, England, dating from the 1930's. The decoration comprises blue, yellow and turquoise flowers with green foliage interlinked by a series of thin black trailing stems, and with two concentric moulded narrow rings circling the exterior of the cup and coloured blue; rim edging is blue and the cup handle is a strikingly deco combination of yellow, black and blue lines. The cup stands two and one eighth inches in height with a rim diameter of just under three inches; saucer diameter is four and a half inches. They carry the appropriate 1930's Handpainted Paragon China , England, backstamp including Registered No. 766514 and (on the cup) pattern number 2156/2 (see picture). Condition is excellent and pristine, each piece ringing clearly and thus demonstrating no hidden hairlines; certainly no chips, cracks, or scratches, nor any crazing, fading, rubbing or discolouration, and no restoration. We have a very reasonable start price and there is no reserve. From UK buyers we accept payment in pounds sterling only, by personal cheque, postal order or Paypal. From non-UK buyers we accept and prefer payment through Paypal in UK pounds sterling, but can also accept a personal check (subject to clearance) in pounds sterling (or, at buyer's request, in USA dollars for which we'll convert at the exchange rate prevailing at close of the auction). Buyers are re-assured that we are experienced packers with a proudly maintained reputation, well conversant with the requirements of sending out delicate items worldwide to enable safe arrival under normal conditions. All postage costs are the responsibility of the buyer as are (in international transactions) all import duties or charges.
