I am not sure of the age, but they do not have the smoothe and uniform look of contemporary Quimper pottery. They are more rustic in appearance, with a darker base and richer colors than you often see in the newer pottery from Brittany. They are larger, too, measuring 7 1/2" across when measured from the ends of the handles. They are on a base  measuring approximately 2 1/2" across. They are in excellent condition overall, with very small nicks in the paint on the rim of the lug featuring the Breton man. Since this pottery is hand-made, it has the variatitons in design and the surface you would expect from artist-crafted pieces. These are two really nice pieces of French pottery that would be fine additions to any collection. Both pieces are marked "PAIMPOLAISE FRANCE" along with what I assume are the initials of the artist.  Please note that shipping costs to destinations outside the U.S. are extra. Place a Bid!
