He personally purchased the set in Japan and took it back to the ship with him. My parents are now 67 and downsizing into a smaller home where their storage is very limited. This is an 82 pc set which includes; 10 large dinner plates 8 salad plates 10 bread & butter plates 12 fruit/dessert/sauce bowls 4 soup bowls 12 saucers 10 coffee/tea cups 1 creamer 1 sugar bowl with handles (no lid) Oval vegetable bowl 12 3/8 oval serving platter 16 3/8 oval serving platter Gravy boat with attached underplate 6 ashtrays Most of these pieces appear "Brand New" with the following exceptions  3 plates have small chips on the edges the silver edging on the 4 soup bowls shows slight wear as do some of the coffee saucers and a few of the plates.
