Description
Myotts Staffordshire Royal Crown covered dish Seville This listing is for an absolutely exquisite antique covered vegetable dish (round) which was made and hand decorated in Staffordshire, England by Myott's. The pattern name is "Seville 2278" and it was produced from the early 1920s until 1949 (Myott's factory was destroyed in a fire in 1949). This particular piece is a round covered vegetable bowl with double handles and pedestal foot. It has an ivory background with fruit urns, a yellow band and blue scrolls. Some fruit in the urns is raised in a moriage style (done with enamel as opposed to clay) for added beauty. Uncovered bowl measures approx.  8 3/4" in diameter (not counting handles) x 3 1/8" high to top of outside edge. Covered it measures approx. 8 3/4" (without handles) x 5" (to top of handle on lid).  Marked on  bottom of bowl with a crown over the oval which holds the words "Royal Crown, Myott's". Below the oval are the words "Staffordshire, England" and "England" is also stamped near edge of base. There are 3 additional artists marks/signatures....one is three small blue dots set in a triangle. The other are the letters "IL", and the third looks like a "Z" or "S". Marked on inside of lid with an "X" in blue, "Z8" in orange and "?L" in gold. Both lid and bowl are in MINT condition with no utensil marks, high luster and no crazing or cracks. Lid has no nicks or chips but we see one tiny fleabite on edge of bowl that measures approxl 1/16" across and is barely visible to the naked eye. Enameled moriage is complete and in tact. Transferware pattern is also complete with good color and depth. NOTE:  The original marks from sitting on a rack in the kiln during manufacture show on both the lid and bowl These are not nicks or damage and are indicative of how these old pieces were made. This is part of an entire set which we will be offering on eBay. There are place settings and serving pieces, each offered in separate sales. This particular piece is offered through Replacements for $180!  We are listing it for a fraction of its typical cost. Please make payment within 3 days of sale close. We accept Paypal, VISA or Mastercard (you may call our brick & mortar for direct payment using VISA or MC AT 541-485-2709), money orders or cashier's checks. Items shipped within the continental US will typically ship via FedEx Ground---insurance is included and there is no handling charge for FedEx shipments. However, it is the buyer's choice how their item ships so if you specify USPS we will accommodate that request. There is a $3 handling fee on all USPS shipments. Items shipped outside the continental US will ship via USPS---there is a $3 handling charge on all USPS shipments.  It is the buyer's choice which USPS service we use to ship their item. Typically we will invoice the cheapest method offered.  We make every effort to fully disclose the condition of our items at the time of listing. While we do want to hear from you if you feel it was not accurately represented, our items are typically listed and sold as is. 4-Star Traders, Inc. is a resale shop in Eugene, Ore. specializing in sporting goods, used tack, Western Americana, antiques & collectables.  Our forte is items from the 40s and earlier.  We're avid and experienced horsemen and always welcome an opportunity to learn something new.  We competed in 4H, open shows and rodeo in our younger years, and today we work closely with 4H and other youth based equestrian clubs to mentor and enable the same exchange of knowledge we received courtesy of the "old hands" . Our brick & mortar is in an older part of Eugene which affords access to some unbelievable antiques and collectables. We are always amazed when everyday items from an earlier time manage to survive decades, remaining in pristine condition. We're also surprised by the radical changes in our communication and life styles over the past 60 years! On another note, we especially want your experience with our firm to be a pleasant one and believe good communication is the key.  Because of that, our policies and procedures are listed below. Customer service is our most important job. In an effort to keep your costs down we offer our commercial FedEx services to buyers on heavy items.  Acceptable payment methods are Paypal, Visa, MC, money orders, cashier's check and personal or business check (with a 10 day wait on those last two). It is important that you're happy with your purchase and we want you to let us know via email if you're not.  We work hard to be thorough in our descriptions but sometimes we miss things.  We realize we're not perfect and we want your buying experience to be positive. Be on the lookout for our 4startraders.com website.  It's filled with great old cowboy collectables, antiques in general, fishing and hunting supplies, used tack and lots of the unusual and hard to find!  fourstartraders store
