The plantation has two free standing servants quarters. This is an exciting liquidation we have been asked to manage with over four generations of Southern Plantation items! This 19th Cent-Early 20th Century Meissen Neoclassical Style Gilt and Enameled Porcelain Mantel Clock is in near mint condition. One small chip on the rear border. It is of Neoclassical architectural form, with a circular dial flanked by fluted pilasters, surmounted by an arched pediment, decorated en grisaille with gold gilting on a cobalt blue ground, on a conforming rectangular base ending in bulbous gadrooned feet, Height 19 inches, width 10 1/4 inches, depth 7 7/8 inches. We believe this to be Model 1346. Laurence Mitchell, Meissen Collector's Catalogue, p. 167, pl. 53. This 2004 publication by the Antique Collector's Club is a reprint of the 1910 Meissen catalogue of the porcelain figures made by this firm in the late 19th century and early 20th centuries.
