Description
hdmustangman Store I bought several pieces of Muncie pottery at an estate sale here in Indiana and I picked out pieces that were hard-to-find or unusual, and I picked out this beautiful vase because of the glaze, I'd not seen one like it. I would call the glaze Gloss Green over Green, and this glaze doesn't appear in my Muncie Pottery book by Rans & Eckelman (1999 edition). It is shape # 143-7" which is shown on page 99 in the medium blue, but I am almost sure this vase is in Muncie's Gloss Green with another coat of Gloss Green dripping down over it. (You can see the dripping in the photo that shows the bottom area of the vase). This is a perfect vase as far as I can see. It is not marked or the mark may be very faint under the glaze on the bottom. (Muncie is known to have not marked many pieces). It has that weighty feel to it that Muncie molded pieces are known for. A really beautiful piece from the short-lived Arts & Crafts pottery company in the little town of Muncie Indiana. Bid with confidence, I have a true 100% rating on ebay after 7 years. Thanks for looking at my auction. Dave On Sep-03-08 at 18:30:08 PDT, seller added the following information:Please note: After I posted this pretty vase, I noticed that it has a slight tilt to one side, like it settled just a little in the drying process. I wanted to post this new head-on photo to try to show this a little better. It is still a beautiful and unusual piece, and it may actually be the Gloss Blue over Gloss Green glaze rather than a Gloss green over Gloss Green, it is very subtle. I just wanted to note the slight skew (and I guess when I'm 80 years old, I will probably have a slight skew as well). Thanks. Dave
