Description
sarahandjerome500 Store MONUMENTAL PAIR OF ART DECO AMPHORA LAMPS "CAMPINA" SERIES ~ RARE Up for auction is a rare pair of monumental ceramic Amphora’s from their Campina series made in Czechoslovakia between 1918 and 1938. The pieces that made up this very important Campina series consisted of a collection of approximately 30 vases and bowls with stylized motifs of domestic and exotic birds enameled in bright colors. The Campina series gained popularity soon after its introduction and for a substantial period it was one of Amphora’s most commercially successful products. The lamps feature a large central band measuring 5½ inches populated by ten stylized, exotic Art Deco owls that extend around the center of the lamp interspersed with stylized foliage. This central band is framed by two bands of dark blue decorated with pink and green blue diamonds. Each ceramic lamp sits on a black wooden base that measures 2 inches high. The hardware measures about 14½ inches, making each lamp a total of about 31½ inches in height from top to bottom. The lamp bodies measure 15 inches high. The center area at its widest is approximately 32 inches in circumference. Top band measures 3¼ inches and consists of bands of Secessionist diamonds in pink separated by bands of dark blue. The colors of the lamp are a high gloss glaze of reddish brown, ocher, gray, green, white, pink, dark blue, green blue and a matte turquoise. The main body of the lamp is a matte mottled brown on tan. Both are marked on the bottom along the rim with the oval ink stamp in blue black Amphora Made in Czecho-Slovakia. One lamp has a hand painted light blue roman numeral XXIV. Both have the incised number 15082 23, which is clear on one lamp but almost invisible on the other. The lamps are in excellent condition with only a few glaze misses (common to hand-painted items) and surface rubs. Both lamps are in perfect working order and wired for 3-way bulbs. The lampshades are not included. These wonderful lamps would be a great addition to any Amphora or Art Deco collection and would be great sitting on a library table. There are about 30 pictures. Please be patient! These lamps will be shipped in two cartons! Thanks!
