Description
Two studio pottery piecesone a handled and lidded pot with beautiful blue-green drip over a warm cream gray on red earthenware clay, the other a single handle soup style bowl with same blue-green over warm gray glazing by important Ohio and Martha's Vineyard potter June Elizabeth TaylorBoth these pieces exude a warm Arts and Crafts appeal Larger piece is incised Taylor, smaller bowl is incised with what looks to be June Measures:Lidded piece is 5 1/2" across mouth, 8" at widest,aprox. 3" tall with lidBowl is 4 1/2" across mouth,2 1/4" tallCondition:Smaller bowl is mint without any post manufacture issuesLidded pot has small as made glaze bubble burst on inner part of knob on lid absolutely minor and mentioned only for accuracy, also has small pinhead size fleabite to rim as seen in last pictures otherwise as made conditionPer Vasefinder museum at Vasefinder.com:June Eliabeth Taylor Received her undergraduate degree from Ohio State university.She also studied pottery abroad in the following countries: Greece, Egypt, Germany, and England.She was a co owner of the Graylor Pottery as well as starting a pottery shop on Martha's Vineyard.Our research indicates she taught ceramics at Otterbein College of Ohio,Columbas School of Art, Zanesville Art Institute, And Zanesville High School. Her Designs in clay include typically functional forms with figurative and floral carving where a red clay is used. June exhibited at the Columbus Art Legue and Ohio Arts and Crafts guild.
