One in every 27 Jews of Eastern European descent carries the mutation that causes FD—the same rate as Tay-Sachs Disease. Children with FD suffer from heart, lung, abdominal, visual and developmental problems. Many of these children don’t survive into adulthood; fewer than 50% live to age 30.•••ABOUT FD HOPE: Founded in 2001, FD Hope is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt foundation dedicated to expanding and accelerating research to find a cure for FD.
