Description
This auction is for a large vintage pottery vase. I think it might be North Carolina pottery, possibly made by J. B. Cole. The vase has an aqua or light blue glaze on outside with a white glaze on inside and appears to be made of a light clay although the base has a red clay appearance. The base is not marked but there is a penciled number which is hard to make out – possibly $2.00. The vase has incised rings from top to bottom. The vase measures about 11-1/2” high and about 6-1/2” wide at bulbous section. Pot weighs about 3-1/2 lbs. There is a small glaze flake or chip on rim and a couple of glaze flakes on edge of base. There is a light even crazing that is hard to see. The lower portion of the vase has some white spots of residue that are around some of the pitting in glaze and along the incised lines – not sure if it is lime or some other mineral (see pic) – inside is completely clean. All other flaws were in the making of the piece. Good condition – no cracks, no hairlines. I am not an expert so please ask questions. Winner to pay S/H which includes packaging materials and confirmation. Insurance is optional, but if you choose not to insure, I am not responsible for lost or damaged items. I accept Paypal.
