nahasaru Store LOVELY ARGENTA-GUSTAVSBERG LARGE, SQUARE DISH, CENTRAL FLOWER MOTIF, Ca. 1940s Search LOVELY ARGENTA-GUSTAVSBERG DISH, LARGE, SQUARE WITH CENTRAL FLOWER MOTIF, Ca. 1940s       Welcome, and thank you for looking!       Today we are offering:       A LOVELY LARGE, SQUARE ARGENTA-GUSTAVSBERG DISH WITH SCALLOPED EDGES AND A CENTRAL MOTIF OF WILDFLOWERS, Ca. 1940s       Here is a beautiful, fairly large Argenta dish from Gustavsberg, dating approximately to the 1940s. It is more-or-less square (actually very slightly rectangular as it is longer than it is wide—although it gives a square visual impression) and has scalloped edges with a beautiful, detailed central motif of wildflowers and leaves applied to the surface in pure Sterling silver, with Argenta Ware's prototypical, mottled bluish-green stoneware. This particular dish tends slightly more to the bluish end of the Argenta spectrum, and is less mottled than the more usual Argenta pieces.     One of the weakness of Argenta Ware has always been the eventual wear to the applied silver decor, especially for display pieces that have needed frequent polishing. In the case of this dish, there is some very light wear to the silver in a few areas of the decor on the edge of the dish (visible in photos #3, #5, and #7)—but none at all to the central flower motif.Another area of weakness is the Argenta glaze itself. Perhaps because of the chemical composition, some pieces tend to craze rather severely, but this dish has no crazing whatsoever. Nor does it have any chips, scratches, nicks, or other flaws. Other than the tiny amount of silver loss to the edge, it is in perfect condition. The size is as follows:       Width:     6.0 X 5.0 inches (15.24 X 12.7 cm)       Height:    1.0  inches (2.54 cm)   Weight:    0.11 lbs.   (0.311 kg., unwrapped)       We hope the eventual buyer will enjoy this lovely Argenta dish as much as we, and our families have before us.   Auction-related information:   ************************************************************************************* IMPORTANT—PLEASE READ—!!!!!   RECENTLY, SEVERAL BUYERS HAVE COMPLETELY DISREGARDED THIS NOTICE OR HAVE BLITHELY NOT BOTHERED TO READ IT.  I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH:   PLEASE WAIT FOR US TO SEND YOU AN INVOICE FOR YOUR PURCHASE!  !!!!!  DO  NOT  USE  EITHER  THE  E-BAY  OR  AUCTIVA  CHECKOUT  SYSTEMS !!!!! IT WILL DELAY PROCESSING OF YOUR PURCHASE BECAUSE THE SHIPPING COSTS AND OUR S&H CHARGE MAY NOT ACCURATELY BE REFLECTED IN THOSE TEMPLATE-BASED INVOICES.  THIS RESULTS IN BAD FEELINGS ALL AROUND, BECAUSE WE WILL FEEL SHORTCHANGED AND, BY HAVING TO COME BACK AND ASK BUYERS FOR ADDITIONAL SHIPPING, BUYERS WILL FEEL AS IF THEY ARE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.    *************************************************************************************       ·                     Payment via U.S. Postal Money Order or Cashiers check from a known U.S. bank in US dollars is very much preferred. However, we also accept PayPal, with reluctance.         ·                     Please be sure to make contact via e-mail immediately after making an offer. Payment must be received within 7 days—sorry, no exceptions. If not, the sale will be voided, the buyer reported to e-bay as a non-paying bidder, and the next-highest bidder contacted or the item will be re-listed, at our discretion. Please do not bid if you are not prepared to follow these conditions of sale.         ·                     We wrap extremely thoroughly, so the exact shipping costs are approximate until the item(s) is wrapped. There is a $5.00 handling fee to cover materials, etc., but there are no hidden fees of any kind.  THIS FEE IS NEVER WAIVED, SO IF YOU DON'T SEE IT ON YOUR INVOICE, PLEASE ASK.       ·                     We choose the safest, not always the cheapest, way to ship breakables. However, we will do everything possible to accommodate any buyer preferences if you have a particular carrier you prefer. Insurance is required, and is the responsibility of the buyer, whatever the E-Bay form might say, since once the package is en route we no longer have any control over it.         ·                     IF YOU CHOOSE UPS GROUND, THE FIRST $100.00 OF ITEM VALUE IS COVERED UNDER THE "FREE" INSURANCE THAT IS PART OF THEIR SHIPPING CHARGE. IF YOU CHOOSE THE USPS, ALL INSURANCE IS SEPARATE. We will send the buyer an invoice with the exact shipping costs within 48 hours of purchase.         ·                     We truly do our very best to describe items in exhaustive detail, including any faults we notice, repairs, etc., both through photographs and text. PLEASE REMEMBER that vintage or antique items, even of museum quality, are rarely "perfect." We welcome any and all questions, and urge you to please be sure to ask ALL questions prior to making an offer. Remember that all sales are final, and all items are sold “as is.” We are not dealers. These are items we or our families have owned, and they have been lovingly cared for since they were first acquired.         NOTE:   ·                     We very much want people to be happy—and that is doubly true for our customers. So, although all sales are indeed final, if you have any “issues” let’s discuss them prior to your leaving feedback. We're always willing to try to find a happy medium—in life and on E-Bay.
