An investment for the discerning collector created during the late Victorian era ~the artist was not only gifted with his talents but was gifted with the way his art touches one....I love this piece..... the softest of greens lay against an eggshell background...blended with hues of the palest rainbows...soft pinks,yellows and mauves create this stunning bouquet of roses.... generous scrolls of heavy gold leaf flow along the raised edge of this tray , well over 110 years old this 13" charger is free from nicks,chips,cracks and is in excellent condition.. Bearing the Charles Field Haviland/ Gerard,Dufraisseix and Morel ~ mark #2 , the underglaze whiteware mark in green ,with the words France undernearth dating this ca. 1882-1890...Charles field haviland used his whiteware mark to determine the specific company and time period for all his pieces ...this mark with the CFH over the GDM tells not only the time period but it was created in conjunction with Gerard,Duffraisseix and Morel...a mere 8 year span.... Charles Field Haviland concentrated heavily on the production of table wares....Artistic French porcelain such as this, and display art pieces were made but few of these exist....this mark and art work are very rare on works such as this Charles was the nephew of David Haviland. Charles left America for Limoges in the 1850's and went to work for David Haviland.
