Description
FREE SHIPPING TO CONTINENTAL USA WITH BUY IT NOW. You are bidding on a gorgeous pearlware tureen, possibly Leeds, circa late 1700's. (first 19 pictures) For a piece that is 200 plus years of age, the condition is magnificent with no chips, cracks, hairlines, fleabites or repairs, and the glaze is shiny and bright. Measurements are 7 1/2" in length from handle to handle, 4 1/2" high to the top of the lid's finial and 5" wide. Thick blue pearlware glazing has pooled on areas of the tureen and there is some clear crazing. A slight tea staining from use is in the interior of the sauce base; I mention only for accuracy. The details on this darling tureen are superb. There is a rich deep cobalt blue on the finial and featheredges against a creamy white background; this tureen has the classical Leed's pattern of the embossed fleur de lis and ancathus leaf design across the featheredges. I have shown in pictures 3 through 6, close-ups of the embossing. The handles on the piece are two ornate thick twisting handles. (pictures 7, 8 & 9) Topping it off, the delicate finial on top of the lid is a cabbage rose with five veined leaves underneath it. (picture 10) If you look carefully at pictures 11 & 12, you will see the repeat embossing along the feather edges, just like on the base. These accessory pieces in pearlware are so RARE to find. Incredible to find one in this kind of condition after 200 plus years. Don't let this gorgeous sauce tureen get away. I think the pictures on this piece speaks louder than words. Perfect for the Paris apartment, English Cottage, garden or shabby chic decor.
