Johnson Brothers Mentone Flow Blue 6 piece Platter Set Start Price USD 950.00 Current Price USD 950.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Saturday, November 15, 2008 End Time Monday, December 15, 2008 Location Oklahoma City, Oklahoma See more about 'Johnson Brothers Mentone Flow Blue 6 piece Platter Set' Description This is a very rare set of flow blue platters by Johnson Brothers in the Mentone pattern.  The set includes 6 platters ranging in size from 8 1/8th inches to 17 5 /8 inches in size.  The condition is varied with each piece,  The smallest platter measures 8 1/8 inches in length and 5 inches in width, the platter has uneven gold and crazing of  glaze.    The second platter is 10 1/8th inches length by 7 7/8th inches in width. the gold has very minor skips in the gold.  The crazing in more present on the back than the front. There also appears to be a compression crack but it is hard to tell. The third platter is 12 1/8th inches inlength and 9 1/8 in width.  This piece has minor utensil marks.  the overall condition is very good.   There is minor gold skips.The forth platter is 13 7/8th inches in length and 10 1/4 inches inwidth.  The platter is in excellent condition with only very minor utensil marks.  The fith platter is 15 1/2 inches in length and 11 5/8th inches width.  The platter is excellent with very minor utensil marks and minor gold skips. The last platter is huge and measures 17 5/8th inches in length and 13 1/2 inches in width.  The platter has minor utensil marks.  It does have a lot on surface craze cracking in the glaze. Most defects are visible after very close inspection only.  These would be great display pieces! Each of the platters is well marked and all blue is complete and vivid, all platters have some degree of blue flowing through the platter.  These pieces were used and loved as was most platters of this era.  Oh if they could tell us of the meals they have served, what a tale they could tell.  If you have questions or would like to see more pictures please contact.
