Description
Up for your consideration today is a gorgeous John Kennedy Baccarat crystal sulphide paperweight. This piece measures approx. 1.25" tall x 2.5" wide. It has a white cameo of Kennedy that is signed A. DAVID 63 on the base of the neck on a ruby red base with a 6 sided rounded clear top. Acid etched on the bottom is the Baccarat logo, Baccarat France. Baccarat Glass was established in 1765 by the Bishop of Metz in the little village of Baccarat France. The technique of embedding cameo sulphides in paperweights, was raised to a fine art by Baccarat in the early 19th century. After the heyday in the mid nineteenth century, production was again seen in the 1930's. Production of paperweights at Baccarat then ceased until 1957 when Baccarat once again, having been successful in rediscovering the required techniques, began to make paperweights. Justifiably famed for their paperweights this factory has been associated with paperweight making throughout the years. Baccarat paperweights are of excellent quality, made with a high lead content crystal. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and will make a stunning addition to any collection or a great gift or stocking stuffer for that special someone on your list. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
