His mother Sophie de Lerma and stephfather Luigi de Lerma both influenced him in his work. He was mostly self-taught. In 1952 he started his own studio, first in Nijmegen (NL) and since 1953 in Oosterbeek. In his long career he worked with and tutored (amongst others): Jaap Dommisse, Han Cornelissens and Wim Fiege. Jan van Stolk passed away in 1997. Beautiful lidded box  from the 1950's with decoration of a stylized horse. Signed with artist's monogram and E (artist responsable for the decoration). Excellent condition with no damage or restorations.   Height app. 6.63 inch (17 cm.).   NOTE: We are located in the Netherlands.
