Description For Your Bidding Pleasure   I sold my family chargers last Thanksgiving and forgot all about this huge platter I had stored away a number of years ago from the same line. It was only used a couple times, and it is time to pass it along to another family who will enjoy it for many years to come. It is from the genuine, hand engraved line and not the more modern, remake line. Up for auction is A JOHNSON BROTHERS, HUGE, TURKEY (OR ANY MEAT) PLATTER in the ‘HIS MAJESTY’ PATTERN, MULTICOLORED. You will find the expected brown-inked, maker’s mark to the bottom underside, ‘MADE IN ENGLAND, BY JOHNSON BROS, A GENUINE HAND ENGRAVING, ALL DECORATIONS UNDER THE GLAZE, DETERGENT & ACID RESISTING COLOUR, PAT PEND.’ (see pic-in-a-pic below). This generously, oversized platter measures 20 1/4" in length and 16" in width. HIS MAJESTY is found on Johnson Brothers’ finest, earthenware mold. It is a rimmed, rectangular platter with a drop-down well, or center. The rim has spaced, indentation lines along its width giving the rim a wonderful, panel effect. The rim is broadly scalloped to the outer edge and is extra wide to hold all of your family’s favorite potatoes and vegetables and garnishments, as desired. The well is large enough to hold up to a 20# plus turkey and deep enough to capture your favored seasoned dripping off a large roast. Your family and friends will be endeared to the scene of a large turkey, ‘His Majesty,’ standing in a typical, cold, November field in the foreground. He is almost hidden among bare trees, evergreen and thistle. Nearby is a fence, and in the background, is a distant barn with silo. The rim of the platter has a design of fruits and berries as well as flowers and foliage for a warm and inviting touch. You will delight in hand colored touches of varying hues of plum, yellow, teal and salmon. The platter is painted an overall, antiqued white that enhances the terrifically detailed brown pattern and colors - all fired on with a high-gloss glaze. This GORGEOUS, HUGE, SERVING PLATTER is in NEAR PERFECT CONDITION, HAVING ONLY BEEN USED WITH A COUPLE, SPECIAL DINNERS. Your new platter will arrive to you with no chips or nicks, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs done on it. The coloring is vibrant, fresh and crisp throughout! There are only a few, small, very fine, very superficial, utensil marks - NONE of which is readily visible.
