Thank you for taking a moment to view this lovely piece of glass art... Quality artwork, carefully selected, usually retains -- and frequently increases -- its worth.....and is so much more satisfying than hiding cash under the mattress! Please send us an ebay message if there is something specific you are seeking, and we will attempt to acquire it for you. The item you are viewing is: Tall Fluted Aquarium Vase - One of a 'matched pair' of Aquarium pieces, each available separately. This listing is for the Vase only. Artist: James Nowak Signed: Aquarium Vase 08 Size: 26" tall X 13.5" widest diameter (approx) Insured Shipping: 130.00 Western US, 145.00 Eastern US (The oversized shipping boxes required for these large works trigger every UPS surcharge, and the UPS charge is based on dimensional weight.) No Chips, Cracks or Structural Damage. This piece is considered a 'second' -- Please read the full description carefully for exact condition details. We have a very unusual and unique opportunity at offer for devotees and collectors of James Nowak Glass.A matching pair of both Tall Fluted Aquarium Vase, and Large Sea Fan, in the same colorations with fantastic complementary elements. These two incredible pieces are offered in separate listings. This listing in ONLY for the specific piece -- Fluted Vase -- as noted above. Please view both auctions to see all the photos of each piece, as well as the item specifics for each.Either of these pieces singly -- the Fluted Vase, or the Sea Fan -- would be a magnificent addition to any collection. Both pieces displayed together, however, would have a synergy that is beyond spectacular, and their symbiosis would certainly be the apex of nearly any art glass collection. Please carefully review both listing descriptions, and if you are interested in both pieces together, it will likely be best not to delay, as each is individually subject to prior sale. What really makes this pair of spectacular Nowak works even more amazing is the pricing. Because each has a small non structural flaw, they must be considered 'seconds'. Either piece is an exceptional value unto itself, however, a buyer who is so inclined, could have BOTH pieces for less than the pricing of what one single similar First caliber piece would be at usual suggested retail. Both the Vase and the Sea Fan have exteriors that combine red amethyst and daffodil orange exterior tones, with true red lip wraps. The subtle difference is in the interior glass tone of each piece. In the Sea Fan, the interior tones are opaque lavender and light purple. The interior of the Fluted Vase is a wonderful swirling Gold Ruby tone glass. The exterior elements are a wonderful range of both style and tone....comprising large murini, flattened orbs, pulled canes and colored latticinio rods, all blended into the symphony that makes a large Nowak work quite unlike anything else being produced in the world of high end art glass today. The element colorations both harmonize and contrast with the base glass tones. Some of the specific elements repeat in both of the pieces, but others merely complement. When viewed together, both of the pieces clearly share a matching sensibility, but each also has a strong individual personality, and remains its own unique work.Either of these two pieces would be a magnificent addition to any collection......Together they are an unparalleled and exceptional opportunity, which will not be repeated.PLEASE NOTE: Please be sure to read carefully, and ask any questions or clarifications, to ensure you understand these factors fully -- before bidding. The flaws which keep these works from being perfect are as follows:THE TALL FLUTED VASE: There is a minor 'touch back' on the lip rim of the piece. That means that while still fluid, in the spinning process to achieve the fluting, the glass lip touched back upon itself and then adhered. This is minor, really only discernable from the interior of the piece, and in no way affects the structural integrity of the work. It can be minimized or hidden from view in most display situations, and does not negatively impact the overall glory of the piece as a whole. Please see the close up photos which shows the upper lip interior and exterior of the piece in detail.THE SEA FAN: Structurally, the blowing and hot work on this piece was first caliber....there were no flaws or problems in the creation of the piece. The error was in the cold working of the piece, as the base was leveled. The cold worker misjudged the depth of the piece, when grinding the flat base, causing a small hole to form at the center interior base. This opening is sized approximately between a quarter and a half dollar. It does not affect the structural integrity of the piece. It would generally not be noticeable on display, depending on the exact display situation and angle of view. Even when visualized however, it would not be apparent as a flaw, unless someone had viewed many other examples of Nowak Sea Fans, and were able to make a mental comparison that this piece was slightly different. None of my photographs showing this error, came out in a way that correctly illustrated it, so I have tried to describe it in detail. I will be re shooting additional photos ASAP, and will provide them on request as soon as taken. As far as the way the pieces are signed, Nowak signs 'seconds' with the name of the piece, rather than his name...so they are signed by Nowak with the title of the piece, but they do not bear his name in the signature. If you have any questions about this, please ask for clarifiication.Bottom line: Both pieces DO have very very minor factors that keep them from being perfect first caliber pieces ---- however, they are still both exceptional iconic examples of Nowak's totally unique signature style, and each is still a major showpiece in its own right.... What these minor flaws do allow, however, is for the lucky collector to obtain a magnificent work at an incredible discount price. PLEASE READ THE EBAY "ME" PAGE (link above) BEFORE YOU BID.
