Quality artwork, carefully selected, always retains -- and usually increases -- its worth.   The piece at auction you are currently viewing is: Experimental Prototype Aquarium Tidepool Bowl Artist: James NowakSigned: Nowak 06Approx Size: 26" diameter x 8" deep.  Shipping: Western US 110.00, Eastern US 120.00No chips, cracks, or damage evident. It is always exciting to see Nowak re-think one his classic signature forms, and what he has done here is truly remarkable.  He has taken what Nowak collectors have come to expect in his iconic large Tidepools, and moved it further forwards -- given it even more presence and movement -- by forming it into a wonderful deep bowl shape.   Showcased on a table, a buffet or credenza, or a pedestal display base, it will be absolutely astounding.   In this first prototype example, he has used a gorgeous turquoise/aqua glass and packed it with an incredible assortment of elements, as well as coating the underside with a dusting of Dichroic glass which adds depth and subtle sparkle.   The photos of the full piece tend to be a bit difficult to read the full interplay and amazing interaction of the decorative elements, but if you look carefully at the close-up photos, you can get a better sense.    The end result,  is really astonishing.  It is unmistakably a Nowak Tidepool, yet it is totally unique and apart from anything he has done previously in this Form.  The exceptionally large size has amazing presence and the shaping has fantastic movement that adds even more kinetic energy to the swirling elements.   This is the first experimental work in Nowak's reinterpretation of his classic Tidepool Form.  It will likely remain a Highly Unique Piece, as his initial prototypes always do.  There will not be another one quite like this!!  Nowak's standard form Tidepools can be displayed upended on lucite stands, but this particular piece is meant to sit flat on a surface.   PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE EBAY "ME" PAGE (link above) BEFORE YOU BID.
