The ornaments are part of the "A Christmas Story" series of porcelain holiday china made by International China.   These ornaments have no cracks, chips, flaked paint, or any other flaws that I can see.     The intricately detailed images for each ornament were done by the widely acclaimed artist and ceramic designer Susan A. Winget. Each ornament measures 3" in diameter.   The poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", written by Clement Clarke Moore, was published for the first time on December 23, 1823 in the New York Sentinel newspaper. Since then, it has been reprinted innumerable times in many languages, and circulated throughout the world. The poem's description of St. Nicholas is widely thought to have first established today's image of Santa Claus in a red and white suit, with a white beard.     We have taken 10 close-up photos for this auction -- including a separate photo for each of the eight ornaments -- to show how carefully and beautifully the artist rendered the details of this beloved poem.
