The vase is in spectacular excellent condition with no scratches or nicks of any kind. The vase measures 8 1/4" tall. The vase is stamped on the bottom with the Gustavsberg logo( g with hand), Sweden, and Stig L. The vase is in a dark brown and black tenmoku glaze. It is in the shape of woman's body draped in a dark black dress, over brown.Stig Lindberg (1916-1982) Stig Lindberg was one of the most prolific designers in Scandinavia. For many Swedes, he is representative of the playful design of the 1950’s. In Swedish homes you can often find various objects which he created, from colourful tableware, textiles and children’s books to advanced shapes in ceramic art. Lindberg studied at the Swedish State School of arts, crafts and design in Stockholm, hoping to become a painter. After graduating in 1937 he accepted an employment as a faience painter at Gustavsberg pottery under Wilhelm Kåge. Kåge became a major influence on the young Lindberg, and in 1949 he was named his successor as art director. Stig Lindberg experimented freely and worked in a range of styles and materials. His eye for sculpture and proportion is evident in his precarious ceramic forms from the 1950’s and 60’s. His unique stoneware from this period is to be found in museum collections world wide. He was over the years rewarded the gold medals and grand prix at the Triennale Exhibitions.
