Description
ksfinley store Greentown Chocolate Glassware Jefferson Covered Compote This distinctive hand made chocolate Fenton bowl was commissioned as a commemorative piece for the bicentennial of the signing of the Declaration of American Independence. Designed upon the theme of Thomas Jefferson, it includes in bas-relief a bust of Jefferson and two different views of his beloved Monticello. The cover of the bowl is engraved with four of the many quotes from the pen of this great man. This bowl is one of a limited edition of 3600 pieces in each of two colors. (It is to be made in 1976 only in Valley Forge White and Antique Chocolate.) Chocolate was produced by Fenton in 1911 and 1912 and has been recreated for this historic occasion. On December 31, 1976 when the bicentennial takes its place in history, the moulds for the Bowl will be destroyed forever, insuring its future as a collector's piece. Both as an attractive decorative composition and as a collector's piece, the appreciation of this bowl will grow with the years. Handcrafted by some of America's finest glass artists, the Jefferson bowl will take its rightful founding of the United States of America.
