This late 18th Century Liverpool bowl is one of the few that do. The Washington image contains a caption which appears to date the bowl to the time during his terms as President. The bow script is, "His Excellency General Washington - Commander in Chief of the Forces of the United States of America & President of the Congress." On the opposite side with the image of Franklin it reads, "Benj. Franklin L.L.D. F.R.S. - Born at Boston in New England - 17 Jan. 1706." The bowl is 4-1 /2 tall with a 10"-diameter. There are several small chips along the rim of the bowl but are considered minor. These images are transfers and the transfer at the bottom of the bowl exhibits scraping and some image loss because this bowl has been used over its many years. The image in the bottom is Commodore Preble and this transfer is still fair to good. It was not unusual to add other prominent people to these Liverpool designs since most were made for the American import market anyway. Records for perfect examples and with slightly different bottom bowl designs are upwards to $5,000. Very nice grouping of Presidential items are being listed at the same time. There are at least 100+ different items so you should be able to fill a few gaps in your hopeful collection part.
