Description
Up for bid is a Flow Blue Early Moss Rose Sugar Bowl . It stands about 5 inches to the top rim and 7 1/2 inches to the top of the lid. There are 2 hairline cracks on the bottom that do not go the whole way through, but they were not caused by damage, but I believe they come from the factor this way. There is an insignificant amount of crazing along the bottom of the sugar bowl. If you have any questions you can email me. Happy Bidding and Good Luck. History Behind my Flow Blue collection: I’m bring to ebay a large collection of historic Flow Blue. The pattern is early Moss Rose believed to be made in the Staffordshire region of England. Mrs. Perta Williams appraised the Ironstone dishes in the late 1970’s in her home in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. At that time in Rochester, N.Y. there was a Flow Blue Museum and Mrs. Williams said that was where my set should be. I recently contacted the Toy and Flow blue Museum and they no longer have the Flow Blue, so I have decided to sell my beautiful set. Also, Mr. Jeffery Snyder’s book of Historic Flow Blue has a picture of a plate in it. Mrs. Williams believed the dishes to be c.1835-1850, the maker unknown. Mr. Snyder has them at 1850. No matter how you look at it the dishes I have owned for many years are 160 years old and in wonderful condition. They have only been owned by two families. I bought them in the 1960’s from the original family at that time they were in their 90’s and they brought them over from England when they adventured to America as a young couple.
