Description
rraven94 Store Extremely RARE 1929 Pisgah Forest Vase Copper Turquoise Search Extremely Rare 1929 Pisgah Forest VaseExtremely sought after copper/turquoise glazeWalter Stephen attempted to perfect a blue. He made one and had difficulty reproducing  the color, which turned out to be this turquoise. The color was difficult for potters at the time to reproduce. Finally achieved in 1929, when he first fired pieces with the turquoise glaze in his newly constructed wood kiln. The results were better than he hoped for.Walter Stephen's transparent, glassy turquoise glaze developed decorative patterns of glaze cracks during cooling. These cracks are considered by most potters to be a technical fault and Stephen, himself, at first attempted to eliminate the crackle effect from the glaze. Finding the decorative effect greatly admired by buyers, however, Stephen continued the crackle glaze and turquoise became the pottery's most popular glaze. This fine turquoise crackle vase has the glossy thick glaze, it is stunning. Inside of vase is pink/tan color, also glossy.4 1/2" tall and 4" wideNo cracks, or chips. Glaze is slightly run over on the bottom edge. This was done during the high firing stage. This is simply a beautiful vase. Various levels of blue and green within the thick glossy glaze. This is pre-crystalline vase, rare.Winning bidder to add s/h and insurance is required. Vase will be double boxed.Paypal only per eBays new policy.Delivery confirmation required per paypal and included in handling $1.65.payment is due within 7 days from the end of the auction
