Description
I listed this piece a couple of weeks ago but buyer had a "emergency" and backed out I am now listing it in the Buy It now format at what I believe is a reasonable priceBut will consider offers, especially if your also interested in any off the other N.W. or other studio pottery I currently am listing Masterfully thrown and early Robert Sperry "Mengei" bowl with exquisite naturalistic brushed iron over mat white (slight gray tone) glazeand unglazed foot of red stoneware This Beautiful bowl reflects a heavy Japanese Mengei influence so important in both the early works of Robert Sperry and Pacific N.W. studio ceramics of the mid 20th century and is believed to be from the mid 1950's A great opportunity to acquire a early work by one of the N.W.'s most influential and important potter/artists As made Mint ConditionHas a small 1/2" half moon firing separation at center of underside as seen in picture of signature, at the R in Sperry, is relatively minor and in no way goes through to interior, and in no way affects the integrity of this piece Measures:6" across opening,3" tall, 2 1/2" across footSignedSperryIn iron oxideAlthough I sell many other items on eBay check my auctions often as I will be offeringN.W. and other studio ceramic pieces from my collectionover the next few monthsHere is a Bio of Robert Sperry reprinted with permission of the Vasefinder Museum:Robert H.
