Description
GPSA MemberGlass & Pottery Sellers' Association ************************************************************************** VERY Unusual South Carolina Jar The glaze color and texture are splendid. This jar has an unusual punched decoration. It looks to be a drawing of a ground hog kiln. There is also an incised 5 upside down, don't know what that might mean. Stands 12 1/2" tall. The glaze almost look to be of Crawford County Ga origin, but, because it is heavy for it's size, the way the handles are made, and the base clay, are all reasons typical of the South Carolina pieces. There are 3 chips, 2 are small, on the lip, but they blend in well. No cracks. It rings well. Weighs in at over 14 lbs! Click on photos to supersize. Email any questions. Thanks! Bill & Connie On Dec-01-08 at 19:26:47 PST, seller added the following information:I have already had a question on the glaze of this piece, if it has any red in it. The answer is no, the photo was taken outside, and I think my red brick on the house is reflecting in the glossy glaze.
