This is B&G Figurine # 1733. It features gorgeous sitting Sea Lion in gray, light and dark brown tones with white whiskers. The gentle texture of porcelain beautifully represents animal body features. This looks splendid. Sculptor Knud Max Møller (1879-1965) designed this figure. He worked for B&G in 1909 – 1912 and again in 1914 – 1921. His initials are incised on the backside of this figurine together with year when he designed it. Bing & Grondahl (B&G) was founded in 1853. B & G, Bing & Grondahl refer to the founders: Fred. Vilh. Grøndahl (1819-1856), technical director; the brothers M.H. Bing (1819 - 1883) and J.H. Bing (1811 -1896) as economical directors. In 1987 Bing & Grondahl merged with Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory, which was founded in 1775. The production painter initials ‘PL’ printed in green on the backside. We do not know the name of this artist. This figurine is not in production anymore. There are no three towers hallmark on this figurine. It is marked only with B&G in blue and ‘Made In Denmark’ in green. This marking indicated production of c. 1910 – 1914. This is real rare figurine. Figurine measures about 4 ½” x 7 ¾” at the backside and stands about 6 5/8” tall. Condition is immaculate with no chips or cracks found. Colors are bright and vibrant.
