Description
Early 18 Century  - Royal Crown  Derby " Floral Urns  " Duesbury Period " Derby Porcelain Sauce Tureen, Plate and Lid" Rare The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company is a porcelain manufacturer, based in Derby, England. William Duesbury III, born in 1790, son of William Duesbury II, took over the factory when he came of age in 1791, and Kean having sold his interest to his father-in-law, William Duesbury's grandfather, named Sheffield, the concern continued under the name of Duesbury & Sheffield Here we have a Rare " Royal Crown Derby " Circa 1775-1800  " hand painted from the period of William Duesbury period , signed with the Red Crown Over the letter B . The painting of the floral work is attributed to Edward Whiters and the Gold painting (gilting) by the artist Thomas Soar , both artist were most notable for these works of this period of production. This is from the period ,many of the pottery house produced works of Examples of the work of the best of these artists can be seen in the Museum (Derby House Museum ; UK ), men such as William Billingsley, the great rose painter, William Pegg the Quaker, who specialised in botanical and floral subjects .   Signed on both  works THE CROWN in  RED over the cross swords and the letter D at the bottom . (additional pix are available). and the letter 63 in red. The condition is less than perfect , with signs of wear to the gold on the rim and bases , One Urn does seen to have been repaired. Due to the fact these are hand painted each floral design is a little different . There are signs of wear to the body of the work with little discoloration and light surface wear to the inside of the urns from 200 years plus of use! With much research , I have seen the well respected Antique Up Scale Porcelains Dealers (specialist in this area of collection-selling) selling this quality, vintage and quality in the $$ 2,500.00 to the $ 3,500.00 range retail on leading Internet sites .
