This piece is dog handled, and on the base there is a scene with deer in the woods. It measures about 7 3/4" tall, and about 8 ½ " across from mouth to handle. It is in very good condition, although, there is a small chip on one side, but this does not take from the integrity of such a beautiful piece!! I would rate this piece as a 9! Very Good Condition! American Rockingham ware is a soft cream or yellow ware which is dipped or spattered with a brown glaze before firing. The best-known Rockingham was made at Bennington, Vermont, but it was also made by almost every pottery in the eastern part of the United States and in Ohio. The majority of the Rockingham pieces were made around 1835, but some have listed potters making Rockingham in America as early as 1812, and a piece in the New York Historical Society is dated 1810. Rockingham was a cheap and durable everyday ware, although the direct influence was the English Rockingham made by Brameld and other English potteries.
