Description
Please check out my 100% POSITIVE EBAY FEEDBACK and bid with complete confidence.  (And please check out the other beautiful pots that I have on eBay.)                    You are bidding on a masterfully thrown, meticulously glazed, and artfully decorated lidded form by the late ceramics pioneer David Shaner.                  DESCRIPTION:    The body of the piece reveals a well defined  pattern that accentuates the speckled gray/blue glaze that adorns its exterior wall.  The top inch of the bowl is glazed a dark blue with brown highlights that blend nicely with the lid.   The latter is a work of art unto itself.  It features a series of gray brush markings set against a background of deep blues, greens, purples, and grays.  The lip is topped off with a beautifully proportioned knob handle.   (The interior of the bowl and lid are glazed a warm speckled oatmeal.)                  The lidded form measures 8” w by 6” h (to the top of the handle.)  It is in pristine mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs- and bears both the artist’s signature as well as the stamp for the Archie Bray Foundation.                 ABOUT DAVID SHANER:    David Shaner  is widely considered to be among the finest potters of his generation.  He received his Masters of Fine Arts degree from Alfred University in 1959 and taught at the University of Illinois in Urbana until a summer residency at the Archie Bray Foundation brought him to Montana in 1963.  He took up residence in Big Fork, Montana and was the resident director at the Bray from 1963 to 1970.  (He is widely celebrated in ceramic circles for stabilizing the Bray and securing its first NEA grant.)  David Shaner’s work, whether functional or sculptural, is highly prized by collectors the world over, and can be found in the permanent collections of the very finest museums.                     Winning bidder pays $18 for insured USPS shipping and handling. (International shipping charge is $40.)  Payment is due within seven days of the end of the auction.  I accept Paypal, money orders, and personal checks (but please allow ample time for checks to clear.)   International payments must be through Paypal.
