Sorry for any photo glare. White spots are from my camera flash. This is a wonderful mustard brown jasper ware background with white scenes of trees, plants, urns, cupid, and many other ladies. The only mark on base is incised 1677.  Dudson started in 1800 and the brothers did not take over from their father James Thomas until 1898.  The scratched in number was an instruction to the decorator and was in use from 1845-1882. This was the period of James Dudson, father of James T. and grandfather of the brothers. The pottery is once again run by two brothers having passed directly through eight generations. (Thanks again for this information!)  A wonderful addition to any collection or would make a great gift.  CONDITION: The stone ware jug is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The lid has a small crack and is showing its age. Looks like there is something missing from the top of the thumb tab on the handle.
