Description
Untitled Document Catalina Scroll Footed Blue Deco Bowl ca. 1932 - 1936 - No Reserve! -         You are bidding on a gorgeous Catalina Island low bowl in a soft pastel Powder Blue, one of the original Catalina Pottery glazes. It measures 9 inches square across the top and is 3 1/2 inches high. The glaze is incredibly smooth and soft to the touch. As you can see in my pictures (which are a bit paler than the actual blue color of the bowl), it's marked Catalina Island with the mold number 718. The color of the clay is white, indicating that it was made between 1932 and 1936, just before the Gladding McBean partnership bought the pottery and some of the molds. It is totally free of cracks or hairlines. The interior of the bowl shows some very light scratches from use and there is some unevenness in the color of the glaze only on the inside. There are some glaze skips on the underside of scrolled feet and a few very small glaze flakes as well, as can be seen in my pictures. None of this is noticeable when the bowl is upright. This is a remarkable piece of pottery from the early days of Catalina Island Pottery, which was in operation for only the ten years between 1927 to 1937. This is a very nice and stylish example and I'm sure you'll be pleased. This is a wonderful opportunity to add a piece of Catalina Pottery history to your pottery collection! Take a look at all the pictures to get a good idea of what you're bidding on. My low starting price is no indication of its value. It's just to give everyone a chance and to avoid higher insertion fees. You can bid with confidence. If you're not completely satisfied with this pottery, I'll take it back for a complete refund (minus shipping). If you have any questions, or need clarification on anything, please be sure to email me before the end of the auction. And don't worry about shipping (see my feedback). Each item is always well packed with loving care. Not only that, but in the true spirit of Christmas, shipping is only $8.00 (or less depending on where you live) for this piece of pottery if you live within the continental 48 states. We are offering several other nice items this week. Please take a moment to check out our other auctions. Payment is expected within 7 days of the end of the auction. According to ebay's new rules, only Paypal is accepted, however if this isn't an option for you, email me and we can work something out, such a personal check, cashier's check, or a money order. Shipping will be within one or two days. Thanks for your interest and good luck!
