Description
100% GENUINE WHITEFRIARS INDIGO HOOPED VASE with Polished Pontil     The darling children are back at school, the nights are getting noticeably shorter and the occasional day seems to have a definite chill in the air … especially up here in Newcastle! Also, dare I mention it, the dreaded ‘C’ word is only a little over three month away! So, why not start your Christmas shopping in earnest or merely cheer yourself up at the onset of the those brown Autumnal days with a highly collectable piece of glassware from the Retro 1970s. The London Art Glass Company of WHITEFRIARS, under the guardianship of their legendary designer, Geoffrey Baxter, created a collection of very respected pieces known as the ‘textured range’ in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Today, vases such as the Banjo, Drunken Bricklayer and TV look incredibly contemporary and are highly prized. Buy the object of your desires from, Havanadrift, a seller who specialises in Whitefriars glass, a seller that has 100% positive feedback on all sales, a seller who NEVER sells fakes and a seller that is highly trusted by numerous repeat customers around the world. This particular piece was produced in London, England around 1970.  It's another of the larger pieces designed by Geoffrey Baxter and is the incredibly impressive Hooped vase in the subtle dark blue colour of INDIGO.  Look at photo 3 to see how it towers over a massive Nuts and Bolts vase and makes an impressive TV look positively diminunative.  All of Baxter's pieces were made of cased glass which means that the coloured glass is embedded within a layer of crystal clear glass which can be clearly seen in several places on this beautiful vase, especially at the base. One of my largest Whitefriar patterns, it weighs a mighty 2.2kgs and stands 295mm tall.  It displays beautifully and is in a super condition with absolutely NO chips or cracks with the base carrying the usual amount of wear.  This is guaranteed as an authentic Whitefriars piece and carries the ground out and polished pontil to the base which is always a reliable indicator - photo available if required. I have listed minimal photos to help keep the listing costs down but any photo angle can be quickly taken and emailed upon request.   POSTAGE COSTS ***PLEASE NOTE THAT ALTHOUGH UK POSTAGE PRICES MAY APPEAR HIGH, IF UK BUYERS PAY WITH CHEQUE, CASH OR POSTAL ORDERS THEN SPECIAL DELIVERY POSTAGE IS HEAVILY DISCOUNTED AND OFTEN CHEAPER THAN THE ACTUAL COST PRICE AT THE POST OFFICE!! - see discount section below*** These are clearly stated later in the listing. Multiple purchases can USUALLY be packaged together and will always be done as effectively as possible - estimates can be given whilst auctions are running if required.   POSTAGE METHODS All items are individually parcelled very securely at the end of the auction to facilitate multiple purchases where applicable.
