Description
Normal 0 Normal 0 Normal 0 Normal 0 A nice sized bowl (larger than a teabowl) by Bill Marshall. Bill needs little introduction, however here is a little about him, he was the first local St Ives boy to be taken on as an apprentice by Bernard Leach at The Leach Pottery [1938]. Bill’s pots are highly sort after and he is regarded by many as the purest interpreter of the Hamada, Leach tradition. He was foreman [1955-77] of the Leach Pottery and was responsible for throwing many of Bernard’s later pieces under BL’s direction, with Leach finishing the pot’s finer details and decoration. This fine example has an impressed flower motif to the well of the bowl and is glazed in hakeme fashion with a dark grey glaze wash. For a teabowl of similar form and Leach Pottery production see http://www.oakwoodceramics.co.uk/Galteabowl1.htm on the oakwoodceramics website. Potter/Maker's Marks: Impressed WM interwoven and SI mark of The Leach Pottery to the inside of the turned foot. Size: Height, 10.5 cm. Diameter 14.5 cm. Condition: Perfect condition Normal 0 Shipping Information: Items purchased by British buyers and for Mainland British postal addresses are normally sent using Royal Mail, First Class or Special Delivery™ Next Day.
