Description
brendaginsberg Store        Antique Thomas Webb & Son yellow art glass biscuit barrel / cookie jar with rich gold decoration. Made in England, circa 1880 - 1915.  Measures approx 7 inches, including the lid (glass alone over 1 inch less). A little under 5 inches in diameter.  Fabulous deep yellow satin glass. Stands on a short, round base with a gilded border. Barrel-shaped with a silver plate / silver-coloured metal lid and mount with attached swing handle. The surface of the golden glass is masterfully decorated with a flower blossom pattern which shows very strong Japanese influence, classic for the late 1800's. On one side, an insect that looks like a bee hovers over an open blossom. Very fine, beautiful workmanship - glints and shines as the light catches the raised gold details. See the tiny anthers depicted in the open flowers, the jewel-like buds and the twists and curves of the branches.  Very good condition. No chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any sort.  Please see my other items for auction on Ebay. Feel free to ask questions at antiques@brendaginsberg.com - preferably well before the auction ends. I will not answer emails via the ebay system, which is way too cumbersome and time-consuming.  Check out my other eBay auctions!
