Description
nahasaru store ANTIQUE ARGENTA-GUSTAVSBERG BOWL W. FISH MOTIF, Ca.1935 ANTIQUE ARGENTA-GUSTAVSBERG BOWL WITH GOLDFISH & BUBBLE MOTIF, Ca.1935 Welcome, and thank you for looking! Today we are offering: A BREATHTAKING ANTIQUE SWEDISH ART DECO-ERA ARGENTA-GUSTAVSBERG BOWL WITH GOLDFISH & BUBBLE MOTIF, Ca.1935 This is a truly breathtaking Argenta Ware Art Deco-era bowl with a design of a goldfish blowing bubbles. It dates from the very early-to-mid-1930s—the era when Wilhelm Kåge was still designing most of the Argenta items at Gustavsberg himself. The bowl has a single large goldfish blowing bubbles rendered in Sterling silver and applied to the surface of Argenta's prototypical, mottled deep bluish-emerald green stoneware. There is also a "fish scale" border around the top edge and a plain border around the foot, both of them also in Sterling Silver. The weakness of Argenta Ware has always been the eventual wear to the applied silver decor, especially for display pieces that have needed frequent polishing. This is particularly true of pieces with a fish or undersea motif, as the tiny bubbles are the first to go. In this case, there is absolutely no wear to the silver—none even to the bubbles or to any other part of the design—including the beautifully articulated fish or its scales, which remain crisp and detailed. In all other respects the piece is perfect as well, with no cracks or chips whatever. There is a tiny bit of crazing in the center of the bowl, but other than that it is in an exceptional state of perfect preservation. It could have come from Gustavsberg yesterday. The size is as follows: Height: 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) (including foot) Width: 5.0 inches (12.7 cm) rim to rim 2.0 inches (5.08 cm) foot Weight: 8.3 ounces (0.235 kg., unwrapped) We hope the eventual buyer will enjoy this exquisite Argenta bowl as much as we, and our families have before us. NOTE: Display stand not included with item unless requested. Auction-related information: ************************************************************************************* IMPORTANT—PLEASE READ—!!!!! RECENTLY, SEVERAL BUYERS HAVE COMPLETELY DISREGARDED THIS NOTICE OR HAVE BLITHELY NOT BOTHERED TO READ IT. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: PLEASE WAIT FOR US TO SEND YOU AN INVOICE FOR YOUR PURCHASE! !!!!! DO NOT USE EITHER THE E-BAY OR AUCTIVA CHECKOUT SYSTEMS !!!!! IT WILL DELAY PROCESSING OF YOUR PURCHASE BECAUSE THE SHIPPING COSTS AND OUR S&H CHARGE MAY NOT ACCURATELY BE REFLECTED IN THOSE TEMPLATE-BASED INVOICES. THIS RESULTS IN BAD FEELINGS ALL AROUND, BECAUSE WE WILL FEEL SHORTCHANGED AND, BY HAVING TO COME BACK AND ASK BUYERS FOR ADDITIONAL SHIPPING, BUYERS WILL FEEL AS IF THEY ARE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. ************************************************************************************* · Payment via U.S. Postal Money Order or Cashiers check from a known U.S. bank in US dollars is very much preferred. However, we also accept PayPal, with reluctance. · Please be sure to make contact via e-mail immediately after making an offer. Payment must be received within 7 days—sorry, no exceptions. If not, the sale will be voided, the buyer reported to e-bay as a non-paying bidder, and the next-highest bidder contacted or the item will be re-listed, at our discretion. Please do not bid if you are not prepared to follow these conditions of sale. · We wrap extremely thoroughly, so the exact shipping costs are approximate until the item(s) is wrapped. There is a $5.00 handling fee to cover materials, etc., but there are no hidden fees of any kind. THIS FEE IS NEVER WAIVED, SO IF YOU DON'T SEE IT ON YOUR INVOICE, PLEASE ASK. · We choose the safest, not always the cheapest, way to ship breakables. However, we will do everything possible to accommodate any buyer preferences if you have a particular carrier you prefer. Insurance is required, and is the responsibility of the buyer, whatever the E-Bay form might say, since once the package is en route we no longer have any control over it. · IF YOU CHOOSE UPS GROUND, THE FIRST $100.00 OF ITEM VALUE IS COVERED UNDER THE "FREE" INSURANCE THAT IS PART OF THEIR SHIPPING CHARGE. IF YOU CHOOSE THE USPS, ALL INSURANCE IS SEPARATE. PLEASE REMEMBER that vintage or antique items, even of museum quality, are rarely "perfect." We welcome any and all questions, and urge you to please be sure to ask ALL questions prior to making an offer. Remember that all sales are final, and all items are sold “as is.” We are not dealers. These are items we or our families have owned, and they have been lovingly cared for since they were first acquired. NOTE: · We very much want people to be happy—and that is doubly true for our customers. So, although all sales are indeed final, if you have any “issues” let’s discuss them prior to your leaving feedback. We're always willing to try to find a happy medium—in life and on E-Bay.
