Description
IMPORTANT NOTE, PLEASE READ: The shipping cost quoted on this listing is an ESTIMATE ONLY. PLEASE DON'T PAY until you receive my eBay invoice! I don't pack my sets until they're sold so I can't give you the exact postage cost until I see how many boxes it takes to ship the set safely, the weight of each box and where you live. I don't charge anything for packing, handling or materials! You will pay EXACTLY what the Post Office charges me. Welcome! Today I'm Listing a Vintage 92-Piece set of Pattern #UNC165 Hard Paste Porcelain Made In Limoge, France By Union Ceramiques. According to my book of marks on china, the mark was used from 1900 to about 1950. Comments: The elderly lady whom I purchase the set from indicated that she bought the set in 1927. She said that because of her illness she was moving to a small apartment and couldn't take it with her. After looking the china over, I commented that it looked like it hadn't been used? She said that she had used it a few times over the years at Christmas but that was all (I hear this so frequently when I go to buy china from that era). Folks seemed to have three sets of china back then - One for display in their china closet, one for use at family gatherings and one for everyday. The set was originally for twelve, but the one missing dinner plate & saucer had been broken during one of the yearly washings.Condition: Extremely light use on a few pieces to mostly unused (no chips, cracks, crazing or any other damage) - unbelievable for a set of china that is about eighty years old! The colors in the elegant design are beautiful and intense and the gold decoration is about 95% complete.Description: Different computers render colors differently and that is why I will attempt a description. Please bear with me as I try to describe the wonderfully unusual pattern (it may be helpful to look at photo two while I describe it). Starting at the outside edge, there is a mustard colored band that is followed by a slightly wider black band that contains wonderful mustard colored scrolls and light green and maroon leaves. There are also circles that contain white petaled flowers on a background of maroon. These are equally spaced within the black band (actually they protrude slightly below the black band) between the scrolls. Fine black spears radiate downward from the circles and mustard chain links drape between the circles and the main element of the design - which is composed of elements containing the colors of lime green, mustard, white and maroon. As you can see, the subdued colors blend nicely with what seems to me to be an Art Deco pattern? Here is a list of the pieces:Eleven 9 5/8" Dinner Plates (Dinner plates weren't so large back then)Twelve 7 1/4" Dessert PlatesTwelve Soup BowlsTwelve Cups (2" tall x 3 1/2" wide at the top)Eleven 5 3/8" SaucersTwelve 5" Fruit/Sauce BowlsTwelve 6 1/4" Bread & butter PlatesOne 8 3/4" Oval vegetable bowl (6 3/4" wide)One Gravy Boat W/Attached Under-plate (9" long x 5 1/4" wide x 3 1/2" deep)One creamer (2 3/8" tall x 4 1/8" deep)One Covered Sugar Bowl (3 1/2" tall x 4 3/4" diameter)One 9 1/8" Oval Relish dish (4 3/4" wide)One 12 1/4" Oval Serving Platter (7 1/4" wide)One 15 1/4" Oval serving Platter (10 1/2" wide)One Round Covered Butter dish W/Drainer RARE!One Round Covered Vegetable/Casserole bowl (8 1/2' long x 4 1/2" tall) RARE!One Oval Covered Vegetable/Casserole Bowl (12 1/4" long x 7 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" tall) RARE!Note: If you're looking for a wonderfully elegant large set of fine Limoges China, you will look long and hard to find a set this old and in this condition!IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: Order with confidence, I offer a 7-day money back guarantee (I don't refund postage & insurance).
