Description
***Note - PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE BIDDING ON THIS AUCTION - Thanks!!*** Up for auction is this beautiful dinnerware set made by the Mason's company of England. This particular dinnerware set contains 75 pieces (saucers, underplates, and covers matched to a cup, bowl or serving piece NOT counted as a single unit). Mason's of England was founded in 1813 and produced quality ironstone for more than 150 years. This was the first pattern produced on ivory ironstone instead of white, and is in the "Minuet" pattern, produced limitedly in 1922. The pattern is a lovely colored floral design, very uniquely applied under glaze. Each piece is marked "Mason's, Patent Ironstone China, 'Minuet Patt', England, C2484" Within the mark is the traditional Mason's crown. (see picture 12). All of these pieces are in very good to excellent condition. The only flaws are some minor wear to the green trim around some of the plates and one soup bowl has a small chip on the edge. Otherwise the rest of the pieces are in excellent condition. The set contains the following: 13 - 10.25" Dinner Plates 10 - 9.25" Salad Plates 9 - 8" Dessert Plates 9 - Double Handled Soup Bowls with Underplates 12 - Coffee Cups with Saucers 9 - 6" Bread & Butter Plates 4 - Dessert Bowls 1 - Covered Vegetable Bowl 1 - Large Meat or Serving Platter 1 - Covered Sauce Dish with Underplate 1 - Gravy Server with Attached Underplate 3 - Extra Soup Underplates & 2 - Extra Regular Saucers I have looked on my websites and auctions sites to get information about this set and there seems to be limited information on selling prices for this pattern of Mason's Ironstone. I did find an auction a year ago in England where one 10" plate sold for $50. Another replacement china website has one 6" bread and butter plate selling for $10. There are no auctions currently on EBay for this pattern name and number and have not been any that I know of recently in the US. Book prices that I have seen for this pattern would total close to $2000. I will tell you that my price for this auction is $750 - far below book value and roughly only $10 per individual piece. A bargain for anyone looking for a quality ironstone set done in a beautiful pattern. This would certinaly make a wonderful wedding or Xmas gift for that special someone. I would prefer bidders interested in this item be within 100 miles of zip code 53140, as I will deliver this item to you (at a cost to you of 35 cents per mile round trip in lieu of shipping charges), or, you may pick up the set at your travel expense. Bidders outside of 100 miles will have to contact me to arrange for pickup or pay the applicable cost of shipping, as the cost of shipping this set would be quite expensive. I do have several more pictures of the individual pieces that I can email to you if you are interested in the set. Send me a message and I'll gladly send additional photos. This is a once in a lifetime chance to enjoy a quality ivory ironstone set made by a quality English ironstone manufacturer. Take a look at the pictures and let me know if you have any questions. Be sure to take a look at my other auctions for cool antiques and collectibles. Thanks for looking and good luck!!
