1880s RARE Dugan "Mary Ann" Opalescent Handled Vase Start Price USD 69.99 Current Price USD 99.99 Time Left - Bid Count 1 Buy It Now Price USD 99.99 Reserve Price - Start Time Tuesday, November 18, 2008 End Time Saturday, November 22, 2008 Location kenosha, WI See more about '1880s RARE Dugan "Mary Ann" Opalescent Handled Vase' Description This is a rare treat and an amazing find!!  Collectors wait for pieces like this to come along all the time.  This is a beautiful white opalescent piece made by the Dugan Co. in the 1880's.  Pattern is called "Mary Ann"  after the owner's sister, Fanny Mary Ann Dugan.  This is sort of their "signature" pattern if you will, and depicts a lovely flower with pear shaped petals and intricate vine work. This piece shows up alot in carnival glass and has many colors and variations, but in opalescent glass is only comes in two colors - blue and white, and both are considered extremely rare.  Piece has two very detailed handles and a scalloed edge and base.  It is called the "loving cup" vase and measures 6.5" tall and 3" wide at the widest part.  Tapers gracefully to a point attached to the scalloped base.  There are a couple flaws/bubbles in the glass, which is fairly common seeing as these were made by pressing glass into a mold, and there is one piece (pictured) where the finishers missed a piece that should have been ground down (left over glass from the mold).  However these are very minor flaws and unnoticeable unless you are looking for them.  There is absolutely no cosmetic damage to the piece meaning no chips, cracks, hairlines.  Piece is from an estate sale auction I recently went to where the collector had passed away and had a house full of mint condition collectibles like this one.  See my other auctions for carnival glass and flow blue from the same collection. great piece and especially in this prime condition!   Place a Bid!
