Description
A Very Beautiful,Crude, one of a kind, early 1840-1860''s Open Pontiled,"Devil's Fire",paperweight Millville,New Jersey,3 and 1/8th " oval,"George Washington-Bust",looking to the left, slightly slanted,chalky-white,with a thin, flowing pony-tail,on a slate-black colored background, seeming to be set in pewter,by the references from George McKearin's book,"American Glass",it was a process of "Building not blowing",and the way the craftsman made this paperweight are not known. This piece was found in a hidden cubby-hole,beneath a staircase,in a 1746-Sandy Spring,Maryland home.Found by me,with several open pontiled medicines,3-mold bottles,bitters,ink-sanders,clay pipes, and other fine pieces Made by early artisians, these are the historical finds that make this hobby exciting, incredible and a great way to bring the past into the hands of people who appreciate it,and want to own a real, original piece of American history.Guaranteed satisfaction!Mint condition.
