Don't miss it! This is an exceptional figurine. Portrays Jesus with the Cross. Actually it was intended to be a holly water well in a wealthy Christian household. Lavishly gilt all over, even on the back It is made out of highest quality hard paste porcelain, incredible detail!VERY EARLY piece - circa mid / second half of the 18th CenturyAlthough unmarked, it is out of any doubt that this was work of the leading center of hard paste porcelain production at the time - Meissen. This type of figures and other unmarked wares are known today as Hausmaler (Home Painters),  i.e. artists were buying plain (undecorated) items in bulk from Meissen factory, then painted and gilded them on their own in specially organized ateliers. Well known centers of Hausmaler were Augsburg, Breslau, Pressnitz (in Bohemia) to name a fewThe graciousness of the figure and the expressiveness of the face are just unique and incomparable. Please disregard and excuse my poor photographical skills - the figure has much nobler and overall better presence in person than I'm able to catch with my cameraMeasurements: Approx. 10"x 5" at the base: 10.5" tall Condition:  Excellent+ overall; Very slight wear on the gild mostly at the edges, consistent with the great age. 4 little thorns from the crown are chipped off - and that's all (this is even very hardly noticeable indeed); Other than that - it is just PERFECT!!!
