15" WEDGWOOD ONLY DK BLUE JASPER DIP PIERCED LID URN Start Price USD 1,750.00 Current Price USD 1,750.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, June 30, 2008 End Time Monday, July 07, 2008 Location Pound Ridge, New York See more about '15" WEDGWOOD ONLY DK BLUE JASPER DIP PIERCED LID URN' Description This amazing Wedgwood shape #43 Campagna urn is made of dark blue dipped jasper ware and has a pierced pot pourri lid and white handles.  It stands an  astounding 15 inches in height.   It is marked WEDGWOOD only dating it to before 1890 when England would have been added.  The relief shows the muses and is crisp, very detailed and in perfect condition.  It has been in a display cabinet since I purchased it several years ago at a James Julia inc. auction.   This actual piece is pictured on page 182 of Michael Herman's book, Wedgwood Jasper, Classics, Rarities, & Oddities from Four Centuries, where it is valued at $2,500-$3,500. There is an almost non-discernable hairline on the edge by one of the pierced openings. The hairline runs from the edge and ends at the pierced opening and is approximately 1/8" long in total.  I believe it occurred in the original firing of the lid.   The piece is otherwise pristine.  It definitely makes a statement and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.  I am only selling it as I no longer have the space to display it.
